5 Things To Do When Football Is Rained Off

Sadly Football has been cancelled again... Why not get up to one of these activities?

1) Deck Bar (Deck 23) Dee Why Beach
Get down to the Deck Bar at Dee Why Beach: have some lunch and a few beers whilst watching the Footy on the big screen. Great staff, great locals and a stunning location, with awesome views of Long Reef and Dee Why Beach. Upstairs is a restaurant, or downstairs is informal and fun. In the evenings there is usually a talented musician pumping out relaxing tunes as you sip your favourite cold tipple.

Visit the Deck Bar website here

2) Narrabeen Golf Driving Range
Whether you can swing or not you are always welcome at the golf driving range Narrabeen. The friendly staff will assist and support you and their undercover booths will keep you dry on rainy days like today. You can have lessons there and improve your game no end with their cutting edge video technology.

Visit the Narrabeen Golf Driving Range website here

3) Mountain Biking at Manly Dam

If you haven't yet you have to and if you have before why not get down there this arvo? There are many trails and tracks to suit all abilities. It is great fun when wet as many tracks turn into streams and it is more challenging, wet, muddy and fun.

Visit the Northern Beaches Mountain Biking Group's website here

4) BBQ!

Why not invite the team around for a bbq? One Pom here at Sportsmassive says that whenever you have a bbq over in Pomgolia it always rains. A nice and easy activity this one and if you have a roof over your balcony or patio then it's "too easy" and a dry activity.

Here is a photo of a typical Pommie bbq taken from the mother country (I bet the Pom's miss these days...)

If you do not have a bbq they only cost one or two bucks from Coles or Woolies:

5) Get over to Brookie Oval tomorrow!

The sun is supposed to shine tomorrow and the mighty Sea Eagles are playing Canberra's Raiders at Brookvale. Get down there and support the boys!

How about David Wolfman Williams' cover tackle last week! haven't seen it? Check it out below:

Have a great weekend!

Ten Very Good Goalkeeping Saves

Check out the saves from some of these goalkeepers! It is hard to pick a favourite, although number three is a pretty sterling save indeed.

Enjoy!

Will Anyone Catch Manly Vale?

The big question following the weekend's games is simply: Are Manly Vale up, up and back into Prems? Their aim was always to get back into the Premier League in the first season and with a game in hand they are a whopping 5 points clear already!

The maroon and whites at 'the fortress' David Thomas Reserve notched up another convincing win on Saturday.

Vale legend and centre midfield strong man Liam Douch, began Vale's come back after they went a goal down against the battling BTH Belrose Raiders. Douch received the ball about 30 yards out and spying the keeper slightly off his line calmly pitched a deep controlled strike to make it 1-1. Douch scored 3 of the 4 Vale goals, with ever ready Robin Woods also taking one for the cause. Final Score Manly Vale 4 - 2 BTH Raiders.

A sterling performance by Douche, coupled with a wonderful performance by full back Scott 'Macca' White (and not on the guitar this time...) gave confidence and a true belief that Premier League football might not be far away for the maroons.

The BTH camp were left with that losing feeling and a long drive back to Belrose. Rumours have it that the coach of BTH was wearing an Avalon shirt under his Belrose attire, simply to rub Vale's noses into it if BTH beat them? Strange huh?

All scores are posted on Twitter (link on this blog.) Here is the table for first grade (reserve grade will arrive as soon as we find out the score for Saints v Curly...)

Fixtures for Prems and AL1's Football Matches Sat 6th June 2009

Well, most of the football grounds were closed this evening for training due to them being waterlogged. Sportsmassive heard that AL1 league leaders Manly Vale were seen training hard down on Dee Why Beach and they ended up with a warm down in the ocean pool...

The Sportsmassive weather forecast is predicting a sunny day for Saturday, but will the games still go ahead? Everyone is hoping so!

This weekends fixtures have been taken from our Sportsmassive spreadsheet and copied below. You will see the fixtures after you stumble upon an action packed video of silly Poms hurling themselves down a hill after a block of cheese..?!!
- Check out the suited bloke at 0.34 - ouch! ;)

Perhaps if the games are called off this weekend we could hold a similar cheese rolling competition on The Northern Beaches? Beacon Hill would stand a fair chance I am sure...
