Will Anyone Catch Manly Vale?

The big question following the weekend's games is simply: Are Manly Vale up, up and back into Prems? Their aim was always to get back into the Premier League in the first season and with a game in hand they are a whopping 5 points clear already!

The maroon and whites at 'the fortress' David Thomas Reserve notched up another convincing win on Saturday.

Vale legend and centre midfield strong man Liam Douch, began Vale's come back after they went a goal down against the battling BTH Belrose Raiders. Douch received the ball about 30 yards out and spying the keeper slightly off his line calmly pitched a deep controlled strike to make it 1-1. Douch scored 3 of the 4 Vale goals, with ever ready Robin Woods also taking one for the cause. Final Score Manly Vale 4 - 2 BTH Raiders.

A sterling performance by Douche, coupled with a wonderful performance by full back Scott 'Macca' White (and not on the guitar this time...) gave confidence and a true belief that Premier League football might not be far away for the maroons.

The BTH camp were left with that losing feeling and a long drive back to Belrose. Rumours have it that the coach of BTH was wearing an Avalon shirt under his Belrose attire, simply to rub Vale's noses into it if BTH beat them? Strange huh?

All scores are posted on Twitter (link on this blog.) Here is the table for first grade (reserve grade will arrive as soon as we find out the score for Saints v Curly...)

  2. BTH were certainbly battling. perhaps their coach should concentrate on BTh and not Avalon...? Avalon seem to have it sorted in their reserve grade, however their first grade isnt up to speed. I hate to say it but Vale are looking very good in first grade.
I think that they will go back up but Av will get the reserve league and resrve GF...

  3. Theresa I have never met you but I would like to take you out for dinner. I am sure it will be very affordable and I can assure you that there will not be any banks involved. Speaking of banks; does anyone remember Gordon Banks? He used to keep goal without gloves. Soft soccer nancy pansies these days, they even wear them on the pitch! Gooday but I thought this was a rugby league forum. Theresa please dont forget me!!

  4. Go get f8cked Dick and shove your thugby where the sun dont shine. Rugby is played by a few thousand each wkend on the nbeaches - soccer is played by over 15,000. Saints still have a chance of getting promoted and they have an ex championship striker who has just signed for them (played for Wolves.)

  6. Cam Kahler here, Avalon AL1's.

It's been a slow start to the season for us this year but i can take some of the blame from the boys.

Getting injured after a long night out in the town in Oxford Street was 100% my fault and partly the guy that sat on my ankle whilst getting up to a little bit of "fun"!

Anyway thats besides the point. I am fully fit and recovered and i can safely say i am ready to guide our Avalon team back to the top flight football arena we belong in.

Good luck to the other teams but we have this in the bag!

  9. Isn't soccer wonderful? I love it! Kicking goals and team comradery. My favourite part is the half time chat, especially if we are a few goals down, the tension, the aprehension, the suspense, it is so, so? THRILLING My favourite team are Curl Curl because they wear the same colours as our national side he socceroo's - I love soccer and I love kangaroo's. Wonderful I tell you. Wonderful...

  10. Justin Thyme here. I support Curl Curl. My gran is knitting me a Curl Curl pullover. It is green and gold and will keep me warm as I cheer from the sidelines. I used to be a surfer until all of these shark recent attacks, which have put me off for lfe. So, it's over to soccer spectating and a nice pullover will see me hrough this harsher weather, although I suppose my old wetsuit could be the order of the day this Saturday with yet another wet spell predicted :( Good luck all you soccer players. I love it!!!
